Billy Idol Is Recovering From Foot Surgery

Rocker Billy Idol has tweeting a series of photos taken after a recent foot surgery. He says in his posts that he had "Minor surgery on foot this AM to correct malformation of foot due to hitting a truck tire in road a year ago feels ok though." While we don't know details beyond that, if the surgery is resulting from a prior injury it could well be to manage arthritis that might have formed.

Even an injury that is seemingly minor at the time can result in arthritis, especially if it impacts the joint. For instance, Houston football fans are familiar with turf toe. Growing up, it seemed ridiculous that a sprained great toe could keep a professional football player out of the game for so long. Understanding the injury now, it is a major trauma to the great toe joint which, if not properly treated at the time, can become stiff and arthritic. It becomes so painful that foot surgery is ultimately the best and only effective treatment.

Bone surgery typically takes 6-8 weeks to heal and, depending on the surgery, that is at least how long Billy Idol will have to wait to be back in stage form. But 80's hard rock fans don't fret. I'm sure Billy will be back rocking the stage near you. Feel better Billy Idol!
