Houston Police Department Participating In National Prescription Take-Back Day

Houston Drug takeback day to dispose unwanted medicationSaturday, April 28, is the fourth National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. This day gives Houston residents, along with those around Texas and the US, an opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted prescription drugs in their medicine cabinets. Over the past three Take-Back days, over one million pounds of prescription medication was disposed of. This helps to reduce the potential for abuse.

The Houston Police Department, in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Agency, has set up several collection points which will be open from 10 am to 2 pm. Medications in all forms (oral, liquid, injectable, etc) will be accepted. The service is free and completely anonymous.

The six HPD locations that will be accepting unused and unneeded prescription drugs are:

1) Kingwood - 3915 Rustic Woods Drive - Kingwood 77339

2) Northeast - 8301 Ley Road - Houston 77028

3) South Central - 2202 Saint Emanuel - Houston 77003

4) Westside - 3203 South Dairy Ashford Road - Houston 77082

5) Southeast - 8300 Mykawa Road - Houston 77048

6) Clear Lake - 2855 Bay Area Boulevard- Houston 77058
