James Bond Hurts His Foot on the Set of a Christmas Movie

Former James Bond actor Roger Moore suffered a foot injury when filming the Christmas made-for-TV movie "A Princess For Christmas." The night before shooting wrapped, Moore tripped over a table and crushed his foot. He continues to have pain several months later.

Just this week I saw a new patient referred to me by a local emergency center. She essentially did the same thing to her foot that Sir Roger did. The injury caused one of the bones in her big toe to be broken into several pieces. I operated on her today and it was tough putting her back together again. Think of it like a living 3D jigsaw puzzle. Takes longer than you'd expect to get it together, it is often frustrating, but overall it's fun!

So many people minimize foot injuries and foot fractures thinking that there is nothing that can be done for them. Most often, we either splint toes, wear special shoes or boots, and rest fractures in our feet so they can heal. If this patient did not come for treatment, however, her foot would have healed in a bad position and she would have had both a deformity of the bone, as well as painful arthritis, for the long term.
