Kelly Ripa gave her walking boot 'Felicia' a formal internet send-offJust over a month after breaking her foot during a dance class, Kelly Ripa finally has some good news to share! The peppy co-host of Live! With Kelly and Michael took to Instagram to bid farewell to her walking boot, which she’d affectionately dubbed Felicia.

At the time of her injury, Kelly vowed that she wouldn’t be wearing the boot for more than a week or two, but, given the nature of her injury, I’m glad she kept her foot immobilized for longer than she’d planned.

With a typical foot fracture, which is what Kelly appears to have suffered, several weeks of immobilization is needed in order to allow your bone to fully heal. For more severe injuries, like in cases where bones become displaced, surgery is a must if you ever want your foot to heal properly.

Unless you see a professional and receive x-rays, it’s impossible to tell the full extent of any injury. What you brush off as a bad bruise could be a broken bone; what you assume is a torn ligament may be nothing more than a strain.

The key in all of this is not trying to diagnose yourself: just like Kelly Ripa’s injury proved worse than she expected, your foot pain might be an indication of a bigger, undiagnosed problem. If you’ve been ignoring that nagging discomfort in your foot, toe or ankle, schedule an appointment with Dr. Andrew Schneider today so we can get to the root of the problem.
