IMPORTANT COVID-19 INFORMATION

Our office continues to be open to all new and existing patients. We use hospital-grade sanitizers and are taking measures to ensure patients maintain social distancing by not having anyone wait in our reception room with others. If you prefer to wait in your car, just give us a call and we will call or text you when we are ready to bring you straight into a treatment room. Our entire staff is wearing masks and we encourage you to do the same.

For those patients who cannot or still wish not to visit the office, we are offering private video telemedicine visits. Simply call the office at 713-785-7881 and ask for an e-visit and we will be happy to get you set up for an immediate appointment. You can also request an appointment through our website.

Dont let foot pain stop you at OTC 2015This week is the annual Offshore Technology Conference at NRG Center here in Houston. Each year I see patients leading up to the conference to make sure their feet are in good shape to handle all of the walking in the conference center and the exhibit hall. Pounding on that concrete all day does take its toll. I invariably get panicked calls from OTC participants, both local and visitors, about emergency foot pain that is stopping them from fully participating in the conference.

Here are some tips to keep your feet pain free during the conference:

  • Choose your shoes carefully. Be sure to wear shoes that are broken in, comfortable to walk in, and have rubber soles. You need the cushioning to absorb the shock of the concrete floor.
  • Take a walking break. If you have been sitting or standing for a long period of time, take some time to walk. Walking gets your blood circulating and will stop you from stiffening up during the day.
  • If you are in an exhibit booth, try to have a rubberized mat to stand on. It's exhausting to stand in a small area all day, especially with forces coming into your feet from the hard floor. A mat to stand on helps to cushion and will prevent soreness and stiffness.
  • Do not ignore foot pain. Pain is a signal from your body that something isn't right. Get it checked out so you can enjoy the rest of the conference.

At Tanglewood Foot Specialists, we know how taxing the OTC conference is on your feet. For that reason, we do everything we can to get you into the office immediately to get you out of pain. When you call, just tell us you're with the OTC conference and we'll do the rest.

Here's hoping you have a successful and pain-free conference!
