Apparently, the injury was pretty extensive—“a fracture, chipped bone and torn tendon”—and the star even had to go to the hospital twice, after her first splint was not securing her injury adequately.
If that sounds like a lot to deal with: it is! While a fracture denotes any type of break in your bone, a chipped bone means that pieces of your skeleton have actually broken off. A fracture with a bone chip often goes hand in hand with torn ligaments (as in Kelly’s case) because this type of injury often the result of placing excessive force on your bones and muscles, causing the tendons to contract and damage the adjacent bones.
Basically, this kind of injury stinks, and dealing with it around the holidays is even worse. Here’s wishing Kelly (and all of you!) a peaceful holiday with your feet up in front of the fire!
