At this past Sunday’s Screen Actors Guild Awards, Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams showed up on the red carpet rocking Jimmy Choo stilettos with her long silk gown—but those aren’t the shoes in which she ended the evening!
On her way into the The Weinstein Company & Netflix’s SAG 2017 After Party, Williams picked up her skirt to show the pair of Converse sneakers she’d changed into for a more comfortable celebratory experience.
As anyone who’s read this blog with any kind of regularity can tell you, wearing high heels for extended period of time is bad for your feet—on the day you do it, you’ll likely experience foot pain and perhaps develop a blister or two for your troubles.
Make it a habit over time, however, and prolonged high heel wearings can actually change the shape of your feet for the worse, causing hammertoes, bunions, corns, calluses and even a shortening of your Achilles tendon.
So take it from me—if a SAG award nominated Hollywood actress can afford to swap out her heels for something more sensible, no one will judge you for doing the same. The next time you’re heading for a long night out, spare your feet and bring along a pair of sneaks for later!
