DeAngelo Hall Really Likes His Orthotics

Football players like Hall use orthotics to come back from injuriesAthletes are known for giving dedicated fans objects that they’ve worn while in action—game day jerseys, hats…that kind of thing. No stranger to this idea, Washington Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall decided to give a young fan his cleats after a team practice on Aug. 3.

But the very next day, Hall realized he’d made a BIG mistake. You see, when he donned a new pair of cleats before heading to practice, he “was like, ‘dang, this don’t feel good.’ I started thinking about it and was like, ‘dang, I forgot those orthotics in those cleats.’ That’s when I took to Twitter.”

By which Hall means that he launched a social media search for the boy (10-year-old Mason Baker) who had his orthotics; eventually tracking him down and asking that they be sent back. In exchange, he promised to send the boy a game jersey or tickets to a game.

Thankfully this story has a happy ending—Mason Baker’s family saw the Twitter requests and shipped the orthotics back to Hall. The player has been using the custom-molded inserts since last season, when he suffered a torn Achilles tendon.

Custom orthotics can help you get past the pain of many different types of foot injuries or physical imbalances; many athletes like Hall, in particular, find them to be invaluable, especially when recovering from a sports injury.

Not everyone needs orthotics, but many could benefit from the support they can provide. If you are considering a custom shoe insert, schedule a consultation with Dr. Andrew Schneider today!
