But the very next day, Hall realized he’d made a BIG mistake. You see, when he donned a new pair of cleats before heading to practice, he “was like, ‘dang, this don’t feel good.’ I started thinking about it and was like, ‘dang, I forgot those orthotics in those cleats.’ That’s when I took to Twitter.”
By which Hall means that he launched a social media search for the boy (10-year-old Mason Baker) who had his orthotics; eventually tracking him down and asking that they be sent back. In exchange, he promised to send the boy a game jersey or tickets to a game.
Thankfully this story has a happy ending—Mason Baker’s family saw the Twitter requests and shipped the orthotics back to Hall. The player has been using the custom-molded inserts since last season, when he suffered a torn Achilles tendon.
Custom orthotics can help you get past the pain of many different types of foot injuries or physical imbalances; many athletes like Hall, in particular, find them to be invaluable, especially when recovering from a sports injury. Not everyone needs orthotics, but many could benefit from the support they can provide.
