DWTS Loses Another Player to Ankle Injury

Petra Murgatroyd has been sidelined from Dancing with the Stars by an ankle injuryIt’s looking bad for the mirror-ball crew again…even as reigning Dancing with the Stars champ Rumer Willis continues to recuperate from her dancing-induced foot fracture, Petra Murgatroyd, a regular pro on the show, dropped out of season 21 due to an ankle injury.

Set to be partnered with Andy Grammar for the fun this season, the star instead will be spending 6-8 weeks on the sideline, recovering from the surgery needed to repair her undisclosed-injury.

Sharing the sad news with her Twitter followers, Murgatroyd said: "This is obviously one of the toughest decisions I've ever made and I seriously struggled with the idea of not being able to dance but I know my health does come first, and the sooner I get this done, the sooner I can be back in the ballroom for all of you!" She’s hoping to be back to participate in group numbers towards the end of the season.

As I’ve said before, dancing is a serious sport like any other, yet the athletes competing often wear high-heeled shoes that leave them vulnerable to serious injuries like sprains and fractures.
