Nike Makes Special Cleats for Dez Bryant’s Broken Foot

Bryant's custom Nike's will accomodate his injured footOn September 14, Dallas Cowboys’ wide receiver Dez Bryant had foot surgery to repair a fracture in the fifth metatarsal bone of his right foot (a Jones fracture.) At the time, people expected Bryant to be sidelined for 10-12 weeks, but, for the first time in 6 weeks, Bryant is once again scheduled to return to practice.

So, how is he beating the odds on this often-devastating athletic injury? With a little help from his friends at Nike!

In order to protect his right foot from re-injury, the shoe maker enlarged his cleat to accommodate a strengthened outer plate and an interior custom insole.

No official word yet on when Bryant will see game-day action, but it’s still pretty cool to rock your own custom Nikes to your first practice after an injury.

Of course, only NFL stars and other pro athletes are privy to custom, big-brand footwear…but did you know your Houston podiatrist can give you the same effect? If you are dealing with a foot injury and want to make your shoes more conducive to healing, schedule an appointment with Dr. Andrew Schneider to be fitted for a custom orthotic just like Dez Bryant’s!
