Know the Risks of Diabetic Foot Ulcers

It is important with people with diabetes to take good care of their feet. People with diabetes are prone to foot infections, developing foot ulcers, both of which put them at risk for infection. Having regular diabetic foot examinations by a podiatrist can lower the risk of amputation by 85%, according to the American Podiatric Medical Association. While there are approximately 18 million Americans affected by diabetes, one-third are unaware that they have the disease.
