Ways To Prevent and Treat Heel Pain

Heel pain is one of the most common conditions to strike Houston residents. Approximately 10% of the population will be affected by heel pain in their lifetime. Heel pain in Houston is commonly caused by plantar fasciitis, an inflammation of the ligament that runs on the bottom of the foot.  Heel spurs are also a common cause of heel pain.

Treatment for heel pain will typically include a stretching program and anti-inflammatory medication. If this alone is unsuccessful, treatment will then include custom orthotics to allow for more efficient foot function. Beyond that, there are other successful therapies which include cortisone injections, night splints, physical therapy, and shockwave therapy.  For the most resistant cases, surgery is available to treat heel pain.
