Chances are you’ve read something about Drake this week (you know, that guy who sings Hotline Bling?) It could be that you caught notice of his seemingly 10 billionth split from Rihanna…it might be that he just became the record holder for most American Music Award nominations…
But here’s what caught this Houston podiatrist’s attention: After having previously postponed several concert dates, Drake just cancelled the final three dates of his Summer Sixteen tour due to an ankle injury. A spokesperson for the rapper released the following statement:
"Drake suffered a severe ankle injury during the tour which he did his best to power through. By doing this, he made his injury worse. Under doctors' orders and to ensure Drake only ever gives fans the performances they deserve, he will be postponing the remaining three dates of his Summer Sixteen tour to allow him time to recuperate his ankle injury. Drake's fans mean the world to him. Seeing their faces and performing his music for them is what he loves to do the most and he can't wait to get back on stage."
Now, it is entirely true that performing dance moves like Drake’s on an injured ankle will certainly exacerbate the pain and extend recovery time, so I’m not questioning the medical accuracy of the rep’s statement. I do kind of wonder about the timing, though…What do you think? Is Drake really trying to get his ankle back in working order or is he just hiding our after a bad breakup. I guess we’ll never know…but it’s kind of fun to speculate, don’t you think?
