Manti Te’O out of the Game because of Foot Sprain

IMPORTANT COVID-19 INFORMATION

At this time, our office continues to be open to new and existing patients. We use hospital-grade sanitizers and are taking measures to ensure patients maintain social distancing by not having anyone wait in our reception room with others. We are continuing operation in an effort to keep patients out of the urgent care clinics and hospital emergency departments, which increases the chances of being exposed to the virus. We have x-ray and ultrasound in the office to prevent you from having to go elsewhere.

For those patients who cannot or wish not to visit the office, we are offering private video telemedicine visits. Simply call the office at 713-785-7881 and ask for an e-visit and we will be happy to get you set up for an immediate appointment. You can also request an appointment through our website.

Manti Te'O can't start his NFL career because of a foot sprainYou remember that time when college football star Manti Te’O got on TV and talked about how his girlfriend died? And then remember when it turned out that he never even had a girlfriend, and all of a sudden “Catfished” became a popular verb in our cultural lexicon?

I’m sure Manti Te’O is hoping for all of us to forget about that scandal, and was likely awaiting the start of his football season with the San Diego Chargers so that talk about him could shift to his skills on the field.

Unfortunately for Te’o, he’ll have to wait a little longer and endure a few more Catfish jokes, since the Chargers ruled out their rookie linebacker for tonight’s opener against our Houston Texans because of a right foot injury.

Te'o injured the foot in the Aug. 8 preseason opener; he hasn’t played or practiced since then and has been wearing a walking boot at all times. According to Chargers’ Coach Mike McCoy, Te’o has suffered a sprain.

At Tanglewood Foot Specialists, we advise patients to be seen immediately after an ankle sprain to avoid the kind of long-term damage that can occur if you attempt to home-treat an injury such as this one. If you’re hurting like Manti Te’o, schedule an appointment to see Houston podiatrist Dr. Andrew Schneider today. Just don’t ask me to cover up any Catfish scandals—I stick to your foot and ankle problems.
