Don’t Be Like Eeyore: Keep Foot Pain from Getting you Down

Don't let the cloud of foot pain rain on your happy paradeSince 1963, revelers in Austin have set aside the last Saturday of April (tomorrow) to celebrate the birthday of the beloved A.A. Milne character, Eeyore the depressed donkey.

Though it began as a picnic for English majors at the University of Texas, Eeyore’s Birthday Party in Pease Park has evolved into an annual benefit festival, marked by things that would likely horrify our animated friend: colorful costumes, boisterous drum circles and plenty of food and drink.

Just as Eeyore’s birthday party strives to turn the character’s defining spirit of woe on its head, I urge you to declare today the last day that you’ll let foot pain get you down.

It doesn’t matter what kind of discomfort you’re experiencing; if your heels hurt when you first get out of bed, suggesting you have plantar fasciitis; or you’re in pain every time you run, indicating you may have a stress fracture or shin splints; it’s really, really hard to be in a good mood.
