What to Eat Wednesday: Peach Smoothies

IMPORTANT COVID-19 INFORMATION

At this time, our office continues to be open to new and existing patients. We use hospital-grade sanitizers and are taking measures to ensure patients maintain social distancing by not having anyone wait in our reception room with others. We are continuing operation in an effort to keep patients out of the urgent care clinics and hospital emergency departments, which increases the chances of being exposed to the virus. We have x-ray and ultrasound in the office to prevent you from having to go elsewhere.

For those patients who cannot or wish not to visit the office, we are offering private video telemedicine visits. Simply call the office at 713-785-7881 and ask for an e-visit and we will be happy to get you set up for an immediate appointment. You can also request an appointment through our website.

This diabetes friendly smoothie is a great healthy start to your day!I know that all of you are familiar with the ‘morning rush’: trying to get everyone in the house dressed, fed and out the door before school/camp/work begins. Since the first few hours of the day are often hectic, breakfast (especially a healthy one!) tends to fall by the way side: we either grab something packaged and full of bad-for-you ingredients or skip the meal altogether—wreaking havoc on blood sugar levels.

No one should ignore breakfast, but it’s particularly important for diabetics to start their daily meal plans on a healthy note. With that goal in mind, I wanted to share an easy smoothie recipe that I found in The Australian Women’s Weekly Diabetic Cookbook. If you’re pressed for time in the morning, you can prepare all the fresh ingredients the night before. In the morning, pour them into your blender, mix and enjoy!
