Why is Justin Bieber Massaging His Mom’s Foot?

A photo of Justin Bieber and his mom in happier timesBefore I write this post, I want you all to remember that I have three kids, so it’s not completely strange that I stumbled across an Instagram story of Justin Bieber massaging his mom’s foot…

But before we get to that part of this post, let me give you the backstory. Justin Bieber and his mom, Pattie Mallette, are away on a mother-son tropical vacation (in an undisclosed location because, of course…)

After Justin posted an Instagram of her sitting in a wheelchair, Mallette posted one on her own account, explaining:  "Okay so yeah, I broke my foot on the first day of vacation but there are worse places to be hurt. Of that I am sure. … I had to take a few boats and seaplanes to get it looked at / treated but I had awesome helpers and a really cool wheelchair made for sand. My foot has definitely been on an adventure this trip! Blessed."

Ok, so by now you’re probably feeling pretty bad for Mama Bieber, but then there was that weird massage interaction (click here for video via J-14 magazine)…

I’m not going to comment on the nature of their mother son relationship. Instead, I’m going to keep this in the realm of podiatry:  a massage will not do anything to help a broken foot. It may, in fact, cause pain to the broken foot and/or make the injury worse by disturbing healing bones (it’s no wonder Mallette doesn’t seem so thrilled in the clip)! So take my advice Biebs: help your mom out by pampering her in other ways. Leave the actual foot treatments to a trained professional!
